The following is a description of three initiatives carried out in the city of Dakar:
Micro-gardens, a project to support food and nutrition security in the city of Dakar. Micro-gardening consists of raising vegetables on tables in an urban environment as a solution to the lack of farmable land. The project uses recycled materials such as wood for the tables and tires and old buckets for the production spaces. The substrate is made up of rice straw, peanut shells and local laterite. This project is mainly geared towards groups of unemployed women and young people interested in urban and peri-urban agriculture. It is also geared towards other disadvantaged groups, like the elderly and people with disabilities. The project has received the following awards:
