The Global Taskforce of local and regional governments published this joint statement at the occasion of the High-Level Meeting on the New Urban Agenda discussed at the UN Headquarters. The High-Level Meeting worked as an opportunity to stress the role that the NUA plays as an accelerator of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda.
The Global Taskforce remarked on the importance of the NUA as a basis to reach the Paris Agreement, the Sendai Framework and the Global Compacts for Migrants and Refugees. The published statement also warned about the increasing inequalities between the population and how the COVID-19 pandemic worsened the situation.
