A statement on Executive Mayor Cllr. Geoffrey Makhubo passing
The Metropolis network and our members are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Executive Mayor Cllr. Geoffrey Makhubo, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, to the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality and to the residents of Johannesburg.
As a member of the Metropolis Board of Directors, as well as a board member of the Global Fund for Cities Development (FMDV), the Soweto born Executive Mayor Cllr. Geoffrey Makhubo advocated to provide the five million inhabitants of the city of Joburg with basic services, as well as adequate housing and infrastructures.
