Safety policies and public space: Mapping the right to the metropolitan city

This side event of the Smart City Expo World Congress will be the opportunity to present the project research “ Safety and public space: mapping metropolitan policies with a gender perspective” to map existing policies and measures being implemented by metropolitan governments around the world to combat  women's and girls’ sexual violence in public spaces.

Drawing on lessons from metropolises, international organizations and stakeholders, the session will be specifically on implementing both Agendas, the 2030 Agenda and the NUA, which itself has a focus on participation, inclusion and a special recognition of the safety as a necessary condition for sustainable urban development.

The event is intended to be an opportunity to connect with others Metropolis’s members, sector companies and organizational and academic stakeholders to share policies, resources and build a network of governmental, academic and organizational leaders championing to end violence against women in cities and in turn can be used to successfully implement both Agendas.
