Mobility and transport

Advancing metropolitan public transportation

Developing sustainable, competitive and inclusive metropolitan areas is key to improving the quality of life for urban citizens.

By working together through advocacy actions, Metropolis is pleased to announce the signing of an MoU with UITP, the International Association of Public Transport. By combining efforts, the global reach of both UITP and Metropolis will allow for cooperation in the field of sustainable mobility by exchanging information on urban transportation policies, planning, management and operations.

Working with key decision makers such as UITP is vital to the accomplishment of the mission of Metropolis. This agreement allows us to make progress on advocacy and outreach initiatives such as the Mobility Champions Community,  a high-level platform for local and regional leaders to collaborate in building more accessible, efficient and liveable cities.

As an official supporting partner of the Mobility Champions Community, Metropolis and its members understand the need to advance transport and mobility issues by promoting the health, social inclusion/gender, innovation and economic benefits of sustainable mobility in metropolitan areas.

“Metropolis plays a key role in raising the voices of metropolitan areas on to the global agenda, in order to advance urban life around the world. The work UITP and Metropolis will do together on sustainable mobility is an important part of this progress. UITP is delighted to welcome Metropolis as an official supporting partner of the Mobility Champions Community, moving closer to achieving our objectives.”
