Cairo's Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC) hosts MITI's Regional Center for Africa.
Founded in 1954, HBRC is a research center subordinated to the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities of Egypt. HBRC performs a leading role in enhancing the performance and development of the building sector through scientific research in local and regional contexts.
Challenged by the achievement of global urban development goals, HBRC offers its infrastructure and expertise to Metropolis, serving as a regional center for MITI where the training programs are focused on the fields of housing and urban development, informal settlements upgrading, urban management, environmental management, urban economics and finance, and GIS applications.
Since its establishment as a Metropolis regional training center at HBRC in 2009, it has offered courses on infrastructure asset management, environmentally friendly infrastructure and green calculation as a tool for sustainable buildings, with participants from 16 African and Arab countries and trainers from American and European countries.
