World Association of the Major Metropolises
This project is a professional, systematic and internationalized training and exchange platform for building a highly qualified and professional group of scientific explainers. They have mastered the necessary skill and knowledge for effectively spreading scientific knowledge and changed the previous singular method of popular science dissemination into the two-way interactive method of scientific explanation combining education with recreation.
As Shanghai’s popular science infrastructure gradually improves, a new group of science and technology workers gradually emerges – Scientific Explainers linking the society and science, the government and public. They are workers from the forefront of science dissemination and the core group of people able to disseminate science to the public most quickly and effectively. Since the project was launched the number of trainees has increased year by year. Since the project was implemented nearly 700 qualified Scientific Explainers have been trained up until now. The project guides them to apply the most advanced scientific explanation methods, acquired through training to daily classroom lectures, explanations in popular science halls and plans on popular science projects. At the same time, it encourages them to participate actively in the city’s large-scale popular science activities as volunteers. The project strives to build a group of convincing science disseminators close to the society with a sense of responsibility and wisdom, expand its social influence through diversified activities, disseminate science to more citizens, and enhance all people’s scientific quality.
