This application for “smartphone” type mobile devices, which is intuitive, multi-language and accessible for all, emerges from Cornellà de Llobregat Town Council’s desire to continue working to improve its citizens’ safety and quality of life. This application seeks to become an instrument that facilitates prevention, alert and emergency services for residents of Cornellà de Llobregat. Moreover, the application is designed to protect women from domestic violence and has become a basic tool for their defence. Through a simple mobile phone and a speed-dial application, users can report incidents of any kind to the local police, via an sms, voice message, photograph, video, or simply by pressing a key. The information, together with the personal identification and geolocation, reaches the local police’s IT system, who shall take action accordingly. In less than a year, the application has been downloaded 4,000 times, it has been accessed
10,000 times and the local police service has seen to more than 700 reports.
