The Metropolis Initiative ‘Integrated Urban Governance – Successful Policy Transfer’, which is led by the city of Berlin, will carry out two dialogue events to exchange different perspectives and interests in finding ways for cities to adapt to climate change. Named "No Regrets – Pre-Acting and Adapting to Climate Change in Cities", the first event will take place on October 14th and 15th in Berlin.

The 6th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2013 on Inclusive Urban Development, will take place on Thursday 17th of October 2013 in the city of Ahmedabad. The event is organised by the Government of Gujarat (India)in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and PwC as the Knowledge partner. Metropolis encourages all the City Managers of its member cities to engage in this event on inclusive urban practices.
This summit aims to cover wide-ranging views from national and international experts on various aspects of Urban Planning and social inclusion for all, Affordable Housing and Slum Rehabilitation, Multi-modal Affordable Transport, Sustainable Waste Management. It will provide a unique platform for sharing knowledge and technology which have stood thetest of time.

I discovered the international movement of cities and local authorities in June1988 when I was contracted as Scientific Director for Metropolis. The President, Michel Giraud, and the Secretary General, Pierre Pommellet, suggested I reflect on the creation of a metropolitan institute of major risk prevention because they had become increasingly aware of the topic following the earthquake in Mexico in 1985 whose lasting damage was still visible at the time of the 2nd Metropolis Congress in 1987.

The World Summit is approaching. In around one month the World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) will take place in the Moroccan capital Rabat from 1 to 4 October 2013. Rabat will be the setting for the biggest meeting of local and regional elected representatives the world over, with over 3000 participants from 100 countries.
If you haven’t done it yet. Now is the time to register! The online registration closes on the 20th September. After this date, all registrations will have to be made upon direct presentation at the Summit.
