The Global Fund for Cities Development (FMDV) is officially launched
The constitutive assembly of the Global fund for cities development (FMDV) was held on the 7th of October 2010 in Barcelona City Hall, in parallel of Metropolis’ Board of Director.
Chaired by Jordi Hereu, Mayor of Barcelona, and conducted by Josep Roig, General Secretary of Metropolis, the Constitutive assembly gathered the thirty FMDV Founder members, local authorities and international organization (Barcelona, Région Île-de-France, Porto Alegre, Montreal, Istanbul, Moscow, Dakar ville & Region, Mashad, Abidjan, Makati, etc.). Metropolis and UCLG are considered as FMDV Primary founders.
The assembly elected Jean-Paul Huchon, President of Metropolis and President of Île de France Region as President of FMDV, José Fortunati, mayor of Porto Alegre as Treasurer and Alain Le Saux as Executive Director of FMDV.
The President and the Treasurer signed the Statutes of the association that will be registered in Paris as NGO.
President Jean-Paul Huchon concluded the session by inviting all FMDV founder members to meet at the first FMDV General Assembly and its first Board of Directors on the 5th of April 2011 in Cairo during Metropolis congress.
