Outcome: Urban Transportation Program

The Seoul Human Resource Development Center (SHRDC), which hosts the headquarters of METROPOLIS International Training Institute (MITI), has successfully conducted “Urban Transportation Program for Foreign City Officials” from September 16 to September 24, 2015.

With 15 participants from Beijing, Dongying, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Wuhan, Surabaya, Shiraz, Manila, Warsaw, Taipei, Bangkok (More than 80% are METROPOLIS member cities!), the program shared best cases of urban transportation policies initiated by Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG).

The program served as a venue for participants to understand Seoul’s successful urban transportation model by operating professional and systematic training programs including theoretical lectures consisted with experts in transportation and field trips to relevant institutes and places. We also ensure strong cooperative relations between Seoul and participants’ cities in the field of an urban transportation policy by sharing and transferring knowledge, technology and information.

Through Action Plan and Group Discussion session, we could share each city’s challenges and concerns as well as discuss how to improve our cooperative relations further. We will keep in touch and continue our network for the future development of our cities.
