Documents:

The City of Montreal and the Chantier de l’économie sociale co-organize the next Global Social Economy Forum -GSEF2016, to be held 7-9 September 2016 and which will focus on the collaboration between local governments and the social and solidarity economy (SSE) organizations for the development of cities.

An event not to be missed for:

  • Share your best practices for the development of cities supported by local governments and learn about others in place elsewhere in the world
  • Identify opportunities and challenges for collaborations between your local governments and SSE actors
  • Promote coordinated international actions to foster the development of the SSE in your area.

The GSEF2016 is the third edition of an important international forum initiated by the City of Seoul in collaboration with local social economy partners in 2013. The 2014 Forum led to the creation of a permanent international association, of which Montreal is a member, gathering local governments and civil society networks and organizations that recognize the social and solidarity economy (SSE) as a key factor for local economic development.

The central theme of the Forum is the collaboration between local governments and the SSE for the development of cities. In particular, GSEF2016 will showcase practices that create jobs, ensure a quality of life, contribute to social cohesion and support the smart and sustainable development in cities.
